Engineering Plans?

Does anyone know a company that will draw up engineering plans? My local inspector requires this because he knows nothing about PV systems and to quote him, he doesn't want to learn. He just wants a plan submitted along with the permit, but it has to be done by a "solar company". Apparently my master electrician is not good enough. Are there any companies that do plans that don't require them be the installers? I have a rather simple system that me and my electrician are well equipped to DIY. Thanks

Windows "paint" worked for me, you have to provide a diagram and list of the materials and associated specification ( showing UL listed ).

If its any thing structural, take the diagram you made in "paint" and have a local PE run the numbers and then stamp your plans.

Its not the inspectors job to make or really check plans, only to verify that you build your system to what a plan calls out for which would be signed off by licensed professionals

If he knows nothing about solar or plans, maybe you can just download one of the generic hookup diagrams from whatever inverter mfg you use. Sounds like your local inspector is full of ambition...

Even EXCEL works as a paint program for diagrams. setup the cells as a grid you only do not print them and use the basic drawing tools. it really works and it looks great at the end.:D
