Kohler 17RES Generator Auto Start Contacts

Can anyone tell me if the generator auto start connection on the Kohler 17RES generators are a straight simple 2 wire connection to an Outback Inverter or charge controller, or do you need to use an isolation relay triggered from the Outback gear?

With most generators using the Outback you need an isolation relay http://store.solar-electric.com/regest12vosi.html

The Outback AUX output is 12v / 700ma max (on FX , 200ma on MX) you will need to use a relay, A Bosch type automotive relay is fine,
    Have a good one

ps if you do a search on the outback site for "AUX OUTPUT" it has been discussed many times

    Alan,

The generator's spec sheet (pg. 3) indicates "remote two-wire start/stop capability". It's not clear to me if it'll need an intermediate relay.

    See: http://www.kohlerpower.com/onlinecatalog/pdf/g4120.pdf

The 12 V auto relays are cheap... probably OK to get one (or two) and then use it if you need it once you've had a chance to spend an exciting Saturday night going through all of the manuals... ;)
