    just for the record (and I was not too clear about it):

    those are prices per Watts for bigger solar panels ...

    so here goes the "lets wait a couple of yrs till the prices come down" theory :blush:

    a better question might be what happened to your electric costs during that same time period? most went up.

    Mine where pretty flat since 1996:

    Year : $/kWhr
    1996: 0.11589
    2004: 0.12589
    2005: 0.1143
    2008: 0.11559

    But that is a bit of a lie... My energy use has always been pretty low (i.e., "cheap") and the above prices are the "base tier charges."

    The effective "average" charges (for the average consumer?) are:

    Year : $/kWhr
    1996: 0.12229
    2004: 0.13315
    2005: 0.13727
    2008: 0.16474

    What will next year bring?... :confused:
