Man, you guy's know stuff!
Some one is selling some used Kyocera GT 130's and
TM 130's here in Quartzsite.
What is the difference between the two, and is one better for an RV multi panel installation?
Is there a way to test if they are good?
Thanks in advance,
Michael

Re: I don't know jack
The GT 130 is 130 W module with MC cabling and connectors. The TM model has a junction box for panel wiring. They otherwise have the same specs, both physical and electrical.
See: http://www.kyocerasolar.com/pdf/specsheets/KC130GT.pdf

I would opt for the TM130 for RV applications... I like the junction box. A quickie test would be to expose 'em to the Sun and measure the module Voc voltage with a DVM but no other loads. A cool should read ~22 V, and a hot module ~17 to 18 V.

Re: I don't know jack
Also, if your DVM has a 10+ amp current range, I would set it to the 10A scale and do a short circuit test. Should get close to 8 amps. Let it sit for a minute or two, current should be steady. This will not harm the panel, just test for weak joints between the cells. -

Yes Bob, that's 12V neon burning under there.
On a remote to, so I can pop it on from the T.V. cab on moonless nights, on desolate highways, signaling aliens in New Mexico.
