Generator racing what to check?

Hello everyone.
So l have an on and off again problem with my yamaha 3000ise racing and my system drawing far in excess of the rated amps. Can anyone point me in the right direction? What should I be looking at?

details: so, l'll start up the genny and after 30 seconds or so the inverter charger will recognize the genny input and it will shoot up way past the 20 amps. (But not every time.) We are talking high 30's. I shut it down and do it again. Out of frustration I've let it go to "see what happens" and it settled in at 20 amps after about 30-40 seconds. But there have been times where it simply didn't.

The system draw from the house isn't showing any large loads.

Winter is coming and I guess I'd better get this sussed out.

Thanks and have a great day.

Have you verified that the system isn't trying to charge the batteries?
Are you grid connected? Is the system trying to export to the utility?
I can't answer your question about genny behavior .
Sol-Ark 12, 3 Pytes V5 100ah batteries, currently six REC 420w panels installed. Ten more panels waiting to be installed.

    Great questions!
    Not grid connected.
Would have thought the whole purpose of the genny is to charge the batteries when the light is too low.

Okay, I'll poke around some more.

    Thanks.

Magnum MS-PAE inverter is 120/240 volt split phase?
Is the Yamaha ef3000 120/240 volt split phase?

Does the Magnum manual have information concerning generator voltage required for input to inverter?
