This is an intresting topic, I'm running different orientations tied together

I have 96 panels, tho most of them are in the generic best year round orientation, I do have many that are totally vertical for the 1st of the days sun & last of the days sun tied in with all the other panels & chargers & everything seems to be doing ok. I am a bit concerned tho that the higher output panels may be back feeding into the low or no output panels. Not knowing diode characteristics, I'm not sure if the diodes will prevent that from happening.  If there's some flow coming from the low output panels, the diodes would seem to be open & maybe some leeching could be trying to get thru from the high output panels but maybe the back pressure from the high output panels forces them shut, so I have no clue if there's an issue running like that.
I've been running like this thru the winter & not seeing any negative effects as yet. This topic is for a brainier electronics expert.

All 96 panels on a single charge controller?

2.1 Kw Suntech 175 mono, Classic 200, Trace SW 4024 ( 15 years old  but brand new out of sealed factory box Jan. 2015), Bogart Tri-metric,  460 Ah. 24 volt LiFePo4 battery bank. Plenty of Baja Sea of Cortez sunshine.

Regarding mix/match panels and orientations... Here is a post that has links to a couple of discussions:

Read Bill's links and get up to speed. Also look at solar tracking of the Sun and virtual tracking of the Sun.

Welcome here and a good place to learn!

Drop me an email Pat. I try not to get into specifics on here as it not fair to NAZ or my clients.

As well here as one can be in this pretty disturbing world. Trying all the time to be positive! Tickets to see Rod Stewart on my phone so that is good!

Glad to hear Terlingua is sweet !  Take care!
