Any body making a good DC fridge only for under 1K?

    Home Depot had a few DC fridge/freezers last year--I think for less than $1,000... An RV person was recommending them (sort of bar fridge size).

    But they are not there today.

    I don't know anything about the website or the Kodiak line of DC refrigerators... But there are a couple in the $700-$800 range

    speaking of....my friends Norcold RV stock fridge freezer is going bad. I looked in at the control bin and saw among the mess in there a Converter..I had heard of the converter company but can't remember the name today.Do most of these designs take 12v from the batts and go straight to the fridge or do they do some processing first. I would like to replace this unit with a DC that has a robust control that will deliver DC and take shore power AC and convert it automatically by sensing what it needs...
    Cause this person doesn't really understand AC/DC wiring and stuff..

    The Danfoss compressor mfg. has quite a bit of information:

    The Danfoss DC compressor line generally has a VFD (variable frequency drive with 3 phase output--Basically a varable frequency inverter) to drive the motor. And the Danfoss line has 12/24 VDC models (run on either voltage).

    Of course, this is the "raw" compressor information. What any one mfg. does with the unit--It is up to them.
