Does the conext battery monitor work with the xw4024?

Yes and no !

It will work and do it's main function of giving you state of charge on gateway, scp, or config tool.

It will not work with advanced features that have evolved over the 2 generations of XW that have come out since xw4024.
For instance the newer inverters can charge based on Soc automatically. You would do this manually (read it) and maybe not a big deal.
Lot's of grid functions would not work and you don't need them offgrid. 
The BMS of typical LFP batteries may need newer firmware than was ever written for xw 4024 for closed loop charging/discharge protection.
