    Where are you located?

It's not junk, by any means.  Do you have the manual? I see these selling for up to $75.00 on Ebay.
I have a feeling shipping would be pretty steep out here to the left coast. Someone will get a deal on it, though.

Take a look at my signature line.  There are lots of quality inverters out there, including refurb Trace/Xantrex SW 4024's.

Inverters these days seem to be part of a "system" some need peripheral components to be programmed. Most work best with all other components being the same brand. You can program and monitor them online from anywhere on earth, etc. Some are happy to be workhorse inverters that don't require an engineering degree and a wall full of other components to set up and operate.

I had the Trace 4024 for years, lightning got one and AC coil/transformer went out twice in another. Both times the transformer went out it created a lot of heat and smoke, caught fire one time and would have the other if I had not been there. It happened both times after a fairly long grid outage. Those things are heavy so shipping cost was over $100 one way, had a guy in WA state rebuild it and he said parts were getting scarce for these units.
I ended up going with the Schneider Conext SW4024 120/240 volt inverter and the SCP to program it, may add a Combox later after I make sure I can get an internet connection to the unit. I had to reconfigure my circuit wiring, going from 120 to 120/240, but it did give me an opportunity to upgrade. Still working on balancing the loads on each leg/phase and learning about the unit. If I had it to do over I think I would have tried to get an XW4024, it has the auto-transformer built in so phase balancing is not necessary, but they don't make it any more and it was twice the cost of the SW if I could have even found one..

P.S.The new SW4024 was recommended by members of this board and I purchased it from the sponsor. They were quick to ship and answered any questions I had.

I’m looking at Schneider SW4024 Inverter 120/240V ,Schneider Conext System Control Panel ,Schneider Conext Auto Start Control, And maybe Combox. It’s amazing I can buy all that for 1/2 the price paid for the inverter in 01.  The solar panels were going in this year

For $1, I'd keep it as a backup AC charger , unless you plan on changing system voltage.
    Off-grid.
