Yeah, read about that a few days ago. It isn't really a deliberate anti-gridtie measure. More of a practical issue with the tax itself. Bottom line is he could claim the utility charged tax as an imput tax credit offsetting VAT he charges the utility on the value of power sold. He could also have claimed it on other inputs like the cost of panels etc., but only if he is a registered vendor.

His accountant told him it would cost more to do the paperwork than it's worth.
    Off-grid.

If you really want to talk about Canadian tax stupidity, there's the de minimus exemption on imports. The federal goverment spends >$2 to collect a buck on small imports. The current exemption is $20. On top of being taxed to pay the $2 it costs to collect the tax (plus the cost of collecting the tax to pay for collecting the tax), there's the cost getting the border paperwork done on the consumer side.

well I'd rather be here than in the US ( Polytick, a new blood sucking insect or with the Danes (cousins)..

    Wiki says:
At 60.2%, Denmark last year had the highest top personal income tax rate among the 34 countries in the OECD, an organization of developed and emerging countries. And that 60.2% applied to income over roughly $55,000. That's a bigger bite than wealthy Californians face on their paychecks and other earned income.Apr 1, 2013
    and
What is the sales tax rate in Denmark?
Here again, Denmark takes the danish. At 25%, it imposes one of the highest national sales taxes in the European Union and the OECD. The so-called value added tax, or VAT, is applied to most goods and services. All OECD countries have a VAT, except for the United States,
    and
What is the corporate tax rate in Denmark?
Non-resident companies are taxed only on profits distributed from income sourced in Denmark. The corporate income tax (CIT) rate is 23.5% for the income year 2015 (previously 24.5%) and will be lowered to 22% from 2016 onward,
    and to drive....

How much does a car cost in Denmark?
In Denmark a basic compact car will cost you about 100,000 DKK. ($17,400). A new Honda, depending on model, will cost between 200,000 DKK ($34,700 USD) and 500,000 DKK ($86,900). A new BMW, again depending on model, will set you back between 400,000 DKK ($69,500 USD) and 2.5 million DKK ($434,360 USD).

    be happy !
