Re: SOLAR help 6 volt (20X) NEEDED

    Hi Neil (and others),
I'm sorry to hear of your health problems. THANK YOU so MUCH for all your great contributions to this thread. I at least have some idea about what I will do with those 20 (6v) lead acid batteries sitting on my recreational property. e,g including getting them charged asap and keeping them charged over the winter.
I have learned very much from you and this forum.

    Thanks and GOOD LUCK!

no problem and thank you too. hey, let us know how you worked it out and how it's doing. another note here on the interconnecting wires for the battery bank. go with as heavy of wire as you can work with and of good connections with good connectors. this will help to keep those tiny pesky resistances down that cause imbalance between the batteries. if you can every year or 2 rearrange the batteries too to keep them also better balanced. the outer batteries definitely to the center.

also when putting load wires or charging wires to the batteries have the + go to one far side of the battery bank and have the - go to the opposite far side of the bank. this too helps keep imbalances from occuring. imbalances are the uneven charging and discharging of the batteries that could lead to battery failures by some being overcharged or undercharged and with the loads the same thing as some batteries could drain farther than the others. know that some of this i had oversimplified due to time and space, but is fine in general and you might want to copy much of the information provided so you can have it for future reference.

here's an example for 3 batteries in parallel i had drawn awhile back that may be somwhat hard to see here, but it does help out with some of the visualization.
