Carbon has been added to lead acid batteries... here is one company (out of China--Does not claim the cycle life of the Axion):

Nothing new here. Trojan smart carbon 2 years back and last year Outback's carbon line made by ?
Really pretty much fluff to me, just marketing guys waiting for Lithium to be ready.
