I initially posted this to the wrong discussion group.. Sorry.. feel free to delete the original but please leave this one.

My setup:

8 285W LG Panels wired in 4 parallel sets (To obtain the 48v input required for my charge controller)
Magnum PT-100 48v Charge controller
Magnum MS4448PAE 48v 4400 Pure sine Inverter
8 Trojan T-105 225AH deep cycle batteries (1/0 gauge welding wire between the batteries and from the batteries to the inverter.. distance less than 4')

I have connected a small refrigerator, a small 8000 btu AC and a 12000 BTU portable AC at different times.. each one of these items causes the inverter to fault when the surge for the compressor starts.

I am exceptionally disappointed .. I at least expected to connect the new Mini refrigerator.. something must be wrong .. but I'll be damned if I know what it is.

Here are the specs for the inverter:

MS4448PAE

5 sec surge power (real watts) 8500
30 sec surge power (real watts) 6000
5 min surge power (real watts) 5400
30 min surge power (real watts) 4800
Continuous power output at 25° C 4000 VA (L-L) 4400 VA (L-L)
Maximum continuous input current 266 A 144 A
