Sun guard 4.5 and a 100 watt panel

Does any one think a 100 watt panel would be to much for this controller it has a input up to 30 v and 4.5 amps I'm in Colorado by Colorado springs at 10000'

    A 100 watt panel will put out about 5.5 amps per panel data and if you have the renogy panel then it could exceed those rated amps especially when the climate is cold.

    Just to be technical... Solar panel voltage "rises" when the cells get cold.

    Solar panel output current falls (slightly) then the cells get cold (in general, we ignore the effects of heat and cold regarding Isc and Imp--The change in current due to temperature is pretty small).

    For PWM (inexpensive controllers like the Sun Guard)--Do not need to "adjust" for current changes due to temperature. However, you can have increased current due to "edge of cloud" effects, and reflections from snow/water/beach sand. But, again, normally if the Imp/Isc is less than the rated current capabilities of the PWM controller--You should be fine.
