Grandbayou, we have this here in SA, to do things remotely with cell phones: http://gsmcommander.com/5kVA Victron Multiplus II, 5.2kW array, 14kWh DIYLifepo4 bank, all grid-tied.

Verison now supports GSM so, depending on how handy you are, maybe look into a RePhone or the adafruit fona shield.
