3.5k for a 10kWh battery bank?
I just read that a 10kWh Tesla Powerwall pack costs 3.5k. That seems okay to me though I don't know that much on battery prices (I think the Tesla one is Lithium Ion instead of AGM). Anyway, I was wondering how big of a battery bank I would be able to get if I were to try and buy one (Not from tesla)? Meaning I'd need some help on figuring that out . Could I get a bigger bank by buying from a different supplier? If so, from who?
Thank you all
The daily cycle 7 kWh battery uses nickel-manganese-cobalt chemistry[8] and can be cycled 5000 times.[8][9] The 10 kWh battery uses a nickel-cobalt-aluminum cathode,[8] like the Tesla Model S,[9] is for weekly or emergency use and has a cycle life of 1000–1500 cycles.[10][11][12][13]
It includes a DC to DC converter to sit between a home's existing solar panels, and the home's existing DC to AC inverter.[14]
The good news is that the Powerwall will get even cheaper. When production moves into Tesla's Gigafactory in Nevada — which Musk said will happen next year — it's likely the production price (and hopefully, end-user price) will drop.Comments

I expect the price to only dip during tesla market penetration and flooding from asset liquidation of failing competitors.
What do you think will happen when all the existing battery producers get driven under? Then tesla can sell them for whatever price they want.

IMHO his price projections are like vapourware... example his statement about selling his cars for ~ $30,000, >>> Say Whut???

Say Whut is right! When we see them in the store here at Wind/Sun or when my distributor even tells me soon, That is when I wait several years. I really have very little trouble with the lead acid L16 for 10 years on average. About 83 systems now."we go where power lines don't" Sierra Nevada mountain area

Hey! Thanks for the link. It looks like these are still more expensive than the Tesla Powerwall. Operating Life 3,000 Cycle at 80% DOD while the Tesla powerwall 7kw version seem to be cycled 5000 times. The tesla powerwall comes with a 10 year warranty I'm not sure how long the warranty on these are I can't find it on the item description. Seem like the tesla powerwall is still a better deal? Unless I'm missing something

I see, even if it does work that way I think that time would be a great time to buy a pack at a pretty cheap price.
At least from what I am seeing the Tesla powerwall seems to be a good buy??? Thoughts on that?

search for Tesla, here, as there was a long discussion of them, lots of info ....

It really comes down to early adopters... There are (frequently) some sort of price reduction by the manufacturer (trying to get market penetration)--And there is the customer that is willing to take the risk ("non-standard" hardware, unknown product life, possible obsolescence) for a new product that may be a better choice for his/her needs.
If you are not willing/able to risk the cash--Don't bother yet. And--If you are still sensitive to costs, even off grid power using Lead Acid and standard components is still not cheap--And add that failures do occur (early life battery and electronics failures, hail storm hitting panels, etc.), running an electric vehicle off grid is not a simple slam dunk decision.

Adding to Bill the one thing that is a the big one for me. The magic wandu so to speak, and that is losing power for any reason.
Quite a bit different when you have the grid to save you."we go where power lines don't" Sierra Nevada mountain area

Thanks guys but just still wondering if there are cheaper options out there for the same amount of storage capacity? The links provided earlier do not seem to be cheaper options. Do you guys know any other provider that might have a cheaper cost for the same amount of storage capacity?

Read up on the power wall, there is a good dissection of it here on the forum and make sure you know its limitations, specifically and also vis a vis the other Li chemistries

What about a forklift battery? You proabably could get a 50 kw unit for $4-5000
XW6848 inverter with 2 X mppt 60 150 CC , with Canadian solar 260Watt panels 2 x 3.5 kw array
