Outback GVFX vs FXR inverters

I just noticed the GVFX inverters are no longer for sale but have been replaced with FXR inverters. They look identical. I bought my GVFX 3648 with the assumption that I could later get another one to stack for split phase operation. Does anyone know if this is just a change in designation or does the FXR inverter have significant firmware changes?

They seem to still be on their web site.

I wonder if a GVFX can be upgraded and if it would be worth it. NAWS doesn't seem to be selling the G inverters anymore. I'll have to do some reading when I get some time.

I did a little bit or reading. Wish the FXR came out a couple of years earlier. The FXR has a much wider frequency acceptance for dirty cheap generators. The "Grid Zero" function of preference for renewable energy sources would great as well. I did post the question on the Outback forum if a GVFX can be converted to an FXR inverter. I would need a Mate three for sure, and hopefully the logic board?

OK, here is what David from NAWS says:
The GVFX and FXR are not compatible at all. They can’t be stacked together.
This is also the case with the rest of the Outback inverter line.

They have a whole new board set.

Outback is saying they are currently not discontinuing the GVFX inverters. Not as of right now….

I will say that I have a couple GVFX inverters I’m trying to get rid of if someone needs a deal.

I might be willing to go lower.

The FXR inverter will require the mate3.
