solar street light controller

What is the name of the device connected inbetween the load terminal of the charge controller and the DC lamp. What is its major function.

    Welcome to the forum.

Normally there isn't any device connected between LOAD terminals and the load they supply.

Guessing by the thread title I'd say you're talking about a photosensor which will turn the light on/off according to how much light it receives?

BTW some charge controllers have this function built-in, activating the LOAD terminals when the light falling on the PV drops output from it below a certain level. Examples: http://www.solar-electric.com/inverters-controllers-accessories/chco/mochco/solico.html
