Tyco Solarlok connectors

i'm interested in purchasing a pair of 250 watt panels ,but their connector type are Tyco Solarlok; should i simply go for a mc4 connection type panel?

    Hi pyana1,

    It is possible that these PV modules are a bit older, as the Tyco connectors were a bit more popular some years ago, although, usually not on PVs this large.

    If is not simple to find Extension cables or connectors for these, and the Solarlok require different crimping dies than the more common MC-4 PV connectors.

    It might be a good idea to go with PVs with the more common connectors, IMO. FWIW, Vic

    If they are a good deal go for it. you can always cut those connectors off and install some mc4 connectors.

    If you cut the cables off or modify/paint/drill solar panels in any way - you void the warranty. All panel makers offer the incredible 25 year warranty, which panels easily fulfill, but they also put in lots of warranty conditions - to provide them a way to deny the warranty in many cases....

    Solar Panel Companies are in great turmoil (and worse) right now. If you get good prices for quality panels--You will probably doing your own warranty out of pocket.
