24 volts system

Trying to plan how my batteries are going to fit in my campervan
I have two areas at the rear of camper used for hanging clothes and shelves for misc
more space vertically than horizontally so i was thinking that 2*12 volts would be better than trying to rebuild the area to take 4*6volts
both areas can be sealed off and made accesable from the outside without too much of a problem
my estimated amp hours required are 450 originaly i had planned using 4*250 watt panels i feel i could probably use less now based on low current
devices i can run.
Thanks for any input

    Sounds like an odd voltage.

Maybe odd because this is going into a vehicle which is likely 12 volts ?

Since Novaz referred to a "campervan" that will host this PV system, my guess is that the 24V PV system (which is likely inverter-driven) won't interact with the vehicle's 12V systems. If that's the case, then a 24V system may well make sense.

Could also have a 24V Toyota Landcruiser Diesel . Seen one of those with nice PV .

That's why I'm asking, since most vehicles are 12 volts.

    Re: 24 volts system

My question was purely about on a 24 volt system is 4 *6 volt batteries a better setup than 2*12 volt batteries for a given amp/hour requirement
being a Brit perhaps my writing of the American English is not so good
this system is for other than running my vehicle electrics which i have already taken care of with a 200 watt pv system
i will be using an inverter to run a couple of appliances outside of the main vehicle
    Thanks

    Roy , I'm also a Brit, Jerseyman
6Vdc GC style are more along the line over 12 Vdc type as being a deep-cycle type. Many marine type deep cycle are not in the same league as the GC 6Vdc type.

I would use 24 V system with one of these : Pyle PSWNV720 24V to 12V DC Power Step Down 720 Watt , for the 12Vdc toys , leaving the Truck alone & for itself .

FYI GC stands for Golf Cart and they are designed for heavy discharge daily and quite durable in that environment.

Two 12V batteries will give you half the AH of four 6V batteries, something to consider. Your cell count will be the same in series, but the GC's have twice the capacity per cell.
Since you are using 24V, at least you won't have any parallel cells to contend with.
