How to create dummy load for Solar City system during outage

Re: How to create dummy load for Solar City system during outageThat post is one that got me really thinking along this line.
I view the solar panels and inverter somewhat like allowed to run off into a drain then paying a lot of money for irrigation. Also, I usually have bad luck with machinery held in reserve. Case in point, we had a couple very mild winters so the snowblower slipped into disrepair. When a big storm hit we were screwed!
Which is why you check the snowblower before Winter sets in, and know that it will be fine until asked to actually move snow. Then it breaks. Can't fool me; I've been on this world too long.
I also check the generator, lawn mower, wood splitter, et cetera ... and know that no matter how carefully maintained breakage happens during use.
I have no trouble 'storing' fuel either, because everything runs on the same gasoline. So it isn't stored, it's 'kept on hand'.
BTW storm outages can mean no solar too. In the case of hurricanes it can mean "kiss your array goodbye".
