Does heat decrease the production of energy in solar panels?

    short answer is yes someone will chime in with the exact amount though. it is more then you would think for though.

    Yes. Check the "temperature coefficient of power" spec for your PV modules. A typical spec for polycrystalline modules is -0.5% per degree C. Translation: For every degree C of PV cell temp above 25 C, expect a ~0.5% drop in output power. Cell temp can run ~30 C above ambient in full "Sun", so a 12% to 15% drop in available power is not uncommon.
