Charging GC-2s in 12V Configuration?

Been trying to supplemental charge GC-2s in 12V system with an automotive smart/semi-smart charger. Charger will not engage batteries? Is there a mod or work-around for utilizing this type of charger? Charger with automotive, seems to work quite well; has good absorb..short equalize to 16v..then drop back to 13.6v and float. But, deep cycle is a no go. Any suggestions for a mod or another economical solution?

    Smart chargers usually aren't.

What's the Voltage on the GC2's? Since deep cycles normally run higher than automotive batteries the charger may think they don't need a charge. Curiously that means they are probably above 75% SOC and probably don't need a charge. Or it could be too low and the charger doesn't recognize there is a battery on it.

If you want to 'fool' an automotive charger into working you could try pulling a load on the battery when the charger is connected. I find this often helps with really low batteries (turn headlights on, for example).
