hello coffee addicts!

couple months back it occured to me getting a thermal carafe coffeemaker would be a good idea. we have an existing thermal carafe that keeps things very hot for hours but we never take the time to transfer stuff from the coffeemaker to the carafe, and it's more washing etc.. something that brews right into the ermal carafe, requiring no burner plate seems the way to go. well, i am on my second unit and still disapointed regarding how hot it stays. I have tried 2 different delonghi units, they work great but the coffee doesn;t stay hot enough. at least i only have to microwave each cup 30 secs instead of a minute

so, anybody have any experience w/any models like this that really do keep the coffee hot?

budget concerns have me on hold, but this is next on my list. i should also posrt the models of the ones i had that did not work so hot (get it). ok im done.

I brew coffee and put it in a Thermos brand stainless steel 2 quart thermos and it works great! An added benefit, it doesn't get that burned flavor after a couple of hours. I have some hot from this morning after over 12 hours. Works for me!

yea i do that for music jams, but its even better when it brews right into the thermos (as it were). a time and dish saver

Well, you made me curious... Had to be up late, so I took some data on the Cuisinart coffee maker with insulated carafe ( http://www.cuisinart.com/catalog/product.php?product_id=305&item_id=413&cat_id=3 )

Made a 12 cup pot of water (no coffee), measured temperature at various times with a calibrated Taylor cooking thermometer ( http://www.taylorusa.com/consumer/thermo/kitchenth.html - product #3621N). Shook the pot up each time to eliminate temp stratification.

Ambient temp was 77F, outide of pot (shot with IR thermomenter) was 79 at 60 minutes.

At two hours, it's still steaming, and way past my water heater's "scald and burn" recommendations. Works for me.
