I've just received indecent message and mail from your forum. Admin, please check and clean. Which may corrupt the standing of your forum and web store.

Please do something to not allow members/client to be borried like that

    Gents,

    Spam posting have become a particularly difficult problem for the forum over the past several months. Niel and I have limited moderator privileges, and we help the site admin police the postings. Additionally, the site admin is looking for that "magic balance" of filters that will keep out the spam-meisters but allow us a technically responsive forum. It's a rough job.

    I suspect I received the same e-mail message that you received. I was able to remove the related posts from the forum. Keep reporting the spam to the admin, and he'll do what he can to filter it out. Any suggestions on how to tighten up the filters and/or registration process would be appreciated.

    none of us like it and as crewzer said we are doing our best to get rid of them and keep them off of the forum. i was present when that one had started blanketing the forum and sent via pms as well. i wiped out what i could of him on the forum twice. as crewzer has asked, any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. i and crewzer know it's rough to look at what you think is one thing then zap it's another. we do ask for your patience and understanding when that happens as we DO NOT CONDONE SPAMMING and want it less than you do as we are here more than most are to see it and it's better we see it than you. notify us when it occurs as we don't want to miss out on eliminating even one of them.

    first off let me say you guys are doing a great job.
    (i got the same thing as everyone else)
    with all the porn on the internet what makes some idiot think
    that someone on a alt energy forum would even be interested
    in that stuff.
    i was wondering does this software allows banning by ip address???

    just my 1.6492 cents worth (2 cents worth adjusted for inflation)

    If I've received any porn offers, I wouldn't know - because if I "smell" anything fishy about a pm, I just delete, without even opening it.
    I see what a difficult job the moderators have and I thank them for the great job they are doing. I wouldn't want that job myself - too frustrating.

    I was thinking, what's the big deal, I get spam all the time, then clicked on the link, "you have 1 new message".

    Glad to hear that the perpetrator has been dismissed.

    It occurred to me that even if there were the resources to remove this kind of thing, to have my eyes automatically protected from it would require someone to read and censor my mail. This is America, thank you, I'll take liberty and privacy any day.

    Niel, you need the power to clean out peoples mail boxes/messages of certain senders if possible it sounds like. I haven't read any SMF (Simple Machine Forums) documents so I don't even know if it's possible, but maybe you could get a little more ADMIN power. After all the security of the people is at stake!

    Am I missing something? Some jack-donkey pm'd some porn, that a few people took the time to read and apparently study (my computer has a delete button) and that constitutes a security problem? Please list ONE modern, every-day movie that isn't laced with porn and vulgarities.
    Reminds me of the twisted priorities that so many in this modern world have - It's perfectly OK for kids to watch every kind of violence, murder, cutting people up with chain saws, you name it, but GOD HELP US if a bare boob is flashed on the screen. I've often said, it appears to me, that our justice system sees very little wrong with every day, run of the mill murder - as long as the one doing the murdering doesn't touch the victim in the privates while doing the deed. North American society badly needs to give it's head a shake.

    strangely i agree with you wayne. it isn't good that the crap comes across in the first place, but i'm more worried about viruses and worms that come with that kind of thing. my pc was recently hit with an unknown virus or worm that got through my anti-virus program by email. it disabled my av program later among other things and i am on the internet unprotected right now. it is still in my pc i think, but some guy in india said my pc is clean. anyway, patman's asking me to screen his pms here and that would be against the right to privacy in my opinion. none of us like this junk being dumped here, but it's nothing i haven't ever seen before. we would all like to wave that magic wand and only see what we want, but that's not current reality on the internet.

    That last part about security of people was just me trying to be funny and make a point about the patriot act and how far it could go to see what people say. On the other hand a 'junk mail filter' or some way to delete those messages would be nice, even after they are sent into your mailbox, point being people will be coming here and checking their box, not as often as us few that do daily, and will be causing a bad image for the board, so I thought if you could delete them all no one else would have to open it in the future :-).

    I have a junk mail filter on firefox, but since that garbage comes
    showing its from NAWS you hate to label it as junk and auto delete
    something worthwhile like that 2 for 1 panel sale :-D
