Any standard filtration system should work fine, sand, DE or cartridge. It just needs to be sized according to your pool size. I usually pick one size up from the normal recommendations.

I just replaced my setup with a Hayward DE setup and like it a lot, DE systems tend to scrub the water pretty clean but you have to buy DE to add for every backwash.

I recently also replace the pump with a Intelliflo VFD and controller, but next go round I am considering the Lorentz direct DC.
