Damani over on the Midnite forum managed to find THIS brochure on the "The Kid" on the web. Very cool! Morningstar should be worried....

Oh, drool... Dangit, now I have to decide which to buy, Classic or Kid? :p *sigh* Knowing me, probably - eventually - both...

Hopefully not until it's actually available !

So boB, how closely will the firmware / features in the Kid compare to the Classic? Is it essentially a Classic with lower-power components or an entirely separate development line?

I'm just realizing this would be perfect for my tinkering plans. I have roughly 2080W in panels, if I split that in half to add a second controller the Kid would be just right. But of course I'd like all the Classic-style goodies! :)

Do you have any idea on availability? As in, next month vs next year?

    From the Midnite forum:

The The Brat - up to 30A pwm output - list price about $100.

The The Kid 30A MPPT list price about $400.

Like I said, if these live up to the preview, Morningstar (and Rogue) should be worried.....

I'm guessing first part of next year because we still need to do the ETL/UL thing on it too.

It isn't just a small Classic but does share some design ideas of course.
