Re: Surrette S-530 batteries small fraction of capacity
The specific gravity of my batteries is improving. I left absorption at 58.8V while I was in Spokane last week. Getting readings of 1260. Measured 2PM today. I'll try to measure at the end of absorption tomorrow.

    Current settings:
Equalize: 64V (flooded default; Surrete manual is 60-64)
Absorb/Bulk: 58.8V (higher than default and Surrette manual of 57.6V)
Float: 52.5V (lower than flooded default, at Surrette manual)
    ReCharge: 50.0V (default)
    AbsorbTime: 180min (default)

    Hi Y A,

Glad that your SGs continue to improve. Once that you get the SGs that are expected for these batteries -- 1.265 --, am sure that you will want to reduce the Absorption voltage, at least somewhat.

AND, you mention the Surrette suggested range of EQ voltages as 60-64. This is incorrect. Surrette has speced a minimum EQ V as 61.9 volts ... let's say 62 V. This is the minimum, and also the recommended temperature compensated value, unless you are having troubles, and an aggressive or corrective EQ is required. You may have needed 64 V for EQ in the past, but for the overall health of your batts, you should really crank this back after the SGs come into the speced range.

You know the above, and you also know to keep a close eye on the electrolyte levels. With these higher voltages for Absorb and EQ the bank will use more water, probably a lot more than you are accustomed to, so keep a close eye on that.

Glad that you have whipped the bank into much better shape! Vic
