i have a xantrex sw4548e invertor , a 7.2 kw (6.o constant) how many amps should i set the ac2 to as a back up,when batteries become low thanks in advance

Re: how many amps
Are you meaning you want to have a generator autostart when the load gets 1.5kw more than the inverter can output? Not clear.

Re: how many amps
no i have that set for 50% battery ,i want to know the imput amps from the genny when it comes on ,i.e. at the present it is 16amps is this about right ,for a 6.0 kw genny or should i bump the ac charge up a little ,paulAre you meaning you want to have a generator autostart when the load gets 1.5kw more than the inverter can output? This has been discussed on the "choosing the right generator" thread in the last few days.
I have an SW5548 with a 5.5 KW genny and was advised to set the amps at 35.
In order to achieve this I have to have a 240 to 120 transformer since pulling 35 amps at 120 from one side will pop the breakers and the genny will be shut down by the inverter
I am a novice, but this is my understanding.3310 watts panels, Classic 200 controller, 8 Surette S530's, Xantrex 5548 inverter, Honda EX5500 backup Genny. -
Re: how many amps
Looks like I'm in over my head here after looking up the SW4548E--
here's what the spec said--
AC input voltage 230 VAC
AC input voltage range 150-288 VAC
AC input current 30 amps AC pass through 15 amps AC charging3310 watts panels, Classic 200 controller, 8 Surette S530's, Xantrex 5548 inverter, Honda EX5500 backup Genny. -
Re: how many amps
yes i know what your saying,im not quiete a novice ,but my genny is a cheap chinese import after my expense meccaalt yanmar stopped producing after only 3 years and 2500 hours ,so by my reckoning i can buy 5 of these to one expensive ,i have it set at 19 amps which the genny seems happy with and the invertor takes steady in bulk and dies of in absorb ,didnt know if i needed to raise it a little to get max potential,i find if i bump it up too much it drops out ,and has to re synch so so far it seems to like 19 amps ,bear in mind im in spain with a 240 volt system so no transformer ,but im always open to the more learned in the comunity, thanks again paulThis has been discussed on the "choosing the right generator" thread in the last few days.

Re: how many amps
6000 Watts (continuous) / 240 VAC = 25 Amps maximum output from the generator.
There's your basic math. Adjust to suit, as the quality of the gen, actual line Voltage, PF correction, wiring losses, et cetera will all have influence. -
Re: how many amps
so basically im somewhere near at 19 amp,we get less sun here this time of year and weve had a lot of cloud over the recent weeks ,normally no genny required till end october but as we loose the light need more back up as i use 18 -20 kw a day (dont ask) and last couple of weeks only 6-8kw solar so plenty of back up required ,and at 19amps after the cable step downs etc seems to doing ok ,thanks for all the advice again ,never stop learning at this game ,PaulCariboocoot wrote: »6000 Watts (continuous) / 240 VAC = 25 Amps maximum output from the generator.
