Getting rid (deleting) of Subscriptions

I have been trying in vain to get rid of the daily subscriptions I have to many threads. thought I finally 'got it ' the other day ... but they are back, again, though not quite as many now... Anyone know how to permanently get rid of them?

thanks

If you go into Settings/ Subscriptions, you should be able to empty folders or delete entire folders. If you post to a thread after unsubscribing from it, that may re-activate your subscription.

And if you look at Settings / My Account / General settings, you can set whether a Post to thread will create a subscription to that thread and whether you get a digest of notifications or an instant notification.

Re: Getting rid (deleting) of Subscriptoins

Thaks Inet, I did that process again before I posted and I now have (did have) 2 threads listed, this one and another by Zoneblue. ZB's is one I replied to that had a new post so it looks like any new post to one that any person replies to will generate a notification once a request for Notification is made...looks like it is the same for your own posts... hmm there has to be a way to kill them for good... I now use the "New Posts " button so no need for the old way anymore.

The one thing that I have discovered to be a hidden advantage of subscribing is that I get to see some posts as they were originally added, before a Moderator has edited or deleted them. :-) But that does not really make up for the hassle of all of those notifications, IMHO.

From what you describe, it appears that perhaps you can control whether a subscription is added in the first place (via Settings) and you can delete the notifications Folders from Settings, but once you have subscribed to a thread, the information for that thread may not be reversible. You could look at the online information about the VBulletin hosting application to see if anyone there has the answer for you.

I think that there is. If you go to Subscriptions and look at the list of subscribed threads, instead of just emptying the folder try selecting some or all of them (check boxes at far right) and then go down to the Selected Threads drop-down and choose "delete subscription"

that was my first stab at it and then I realized I had 16 + pages of subscriptions... right back to when I signed up, lets you realize just how much you have participated..

Re: Getting rid (deleting) of Subscriptoins

I think I may have it now, when the previous post showed up (have to hit "Subscr. ") there are 2 tick boxes, one for notification, I ticked both so will see in a couple of minutes what happened.

The only thing that is saving you from total inundation is that most of the threads have gone inactive after a short time. :-)

Removing "subscriptions" altogether? How did you do that? If you did not delete the subscription information for each and every subscribed thread, you will still get notifications, since that info is stored in a different place altogether.

Re: Getting rid (deleting) of Subscriptions

went to Settings and at the top, below the NAWS store banner, there is a section that identifies Subscriptions to specific threads...,

SO I deleted "Subscriptions' from the list ( that's all there was but it didn't do much :cry: still getting some daily notifications

Ah, the hazards of badly designed GUI interfaces. All you did was delete the folder named "Subscriptions" in which the thread list was displayed. Unfortunately that has no effect on the subscriptions themselves in the settings database.

It looks like Niel and I have access to an admin screen where we can delete your subscriptions (just a delete all button--We cannot see or modify what we delete).

Would you like one of us to give it a go?

YES please, deleting the seemingly perpetually self generating unwanted emails is becoming somewhat tedious to say the least.
