Hi,

I think I have loss of continuity in interior of the panel (Kyocera KC120 Photovoltac Module Date 2001.9)

Reads 9V on one side and 0V on other side. Should both sides read "9V"?

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Gene

    Welcome to the forum.

Just exactly how are you measuring this Voltage? Are you inside the junction box checking half the string of cells against the other half? If so, then yes the Voc should read about 9 Volts followed by another 9 Volts in series. If it doesn't the bypass diode(s) may be shorted on that set of cells. Is the output of the panel leads also half Voltage? That would indicate shorted diode(s) as well. If it is zero, then there is a circuit interruption. If you feel up to it, remove said diode(s) and see if the panel halves equalize.

the kc120 pv was one that had solder joint problems in the area of the cells. contact kyocera of your problem if nothing else pans out as being the problem.
