Morningstar MPPT 60 EQ strangeness

A user on another forum drew my attention to a weird thing about the morningstar's EQ cycle. After it finishes an EQ, it drops into absorb and then tries to complete the absorb cycle too. This seems plain wrong and is unnecessarily overcharging and damaging the battery.
Anyone else see this behaviour or know how to fix it?

That does sound strange... Perhaps you should contact MorningStar's tech support directly and see what they say. I don't know if this is a bug or feature (engineering can fix or marketing can sell).
