pumping on level ground

HI

I'm trying to calculate the energy requirements for an off-grid pump. I know the following formula for calculating energy requirements:

P=Q*H*9.81/ɲ

where P= Power in Watts
Q= capacity in litres/second
H= height in meters
ɲ= efficiency of the pump

But how do I calculate the energy requirements to pump along level ground?? (for example... to extract water from a 10m deep well, then along 25m of level ground and then a further 3m meters to a header tank)

Cheers
Larry

    You need to include friction loss for the pipe which varies with pipe size, pipe material and velocity. Thereare some rough formulas but most folks look it up in a book.

    If you dont mind English units, look around for a used version of Camerons Hydraulic, any edition will do.
