Interesting, never heard of it before.
FYI, since you're looking at toys on this side of the atlantic, Victron also makes battery chargers:
http://www.victronenergy.com/chargers/ with power factor correction.
And fronius has some interesting options for traction batts:

Re: TBS Omnicharge Inver/charger OC24-30
doesn't seem too efficient in float mode. -
Re: TBS Omnicharge Inver/charger OC24-30
Appears to be because of max 30 amps and a lower V for float.

Re: TBS Omnicharge Inver/charger OC24-30
Quite a few pieces of equipment have better Power Factor at 100% load vs running at lower power levels (motors, non-PF corrected power supplies, etc.).
It is a trade off between cost and the fact that, at lower power levels, "poor" power factor is not as big of issue (less power/current flow anyway at lower power levels).

Re: TBS Omnicharge Inver/charger OC24-30
Stephendv, thanks, looked at the closest 24V Victron Phoenix model... it has a lower Amp (25A) output than the TBS OC 24-30.
Don't have a need to go to the larger 3Kw model.
Fronius is 220V model.
