for what its worth, Midnite has announced and advertised (but is not yet shipping) an arc fault combiner box. It will be able to detect and disconnect your array from both series and parallel arc faults. Their line of Classic controllers has built in arc fault detection and will snuff out a series arc fault (by disconnecting, no load = no series fault) but will not do anything about a parallel arc fault. If I had a grid tie system with hundreds of DC volts on my roof I would want an arc fault combiner box.
