How do you tell which end of a little silicon square is pos and neg..??? I mean if its at the factory unassembled
and not marked...

Put a digital volt meter on the cell. It will read either positive or negative voltage. Assuming you know how to use the meter probes properly, you can then determine positive and or negative.
