My first time

Had the system in for a month.
Just came home and the batteries are receiving their first equalizing charge. Inverter was screaming HUD and batteries are at 15.5v.
I freaked out.
Then I remembered this equalization business.
Batteries have put a little acid/water in the pan.
So I guess the controller (Morningstar) is doing what it is supposed to do and I can unfreak.

Re: My first time
Not to nitpick but ... are you sure you want it to automatically equalize?
You don't want your inverter screaming about high input Voltage. Ideally everything is shut off when doing the EQ thing. -
Re: My first time
This years idiot award will be going to me.
I had wired (this morning) the WattsUp meter to where basically I had the panels wired right to the batteries bypassing the controller. Thank Goodness I caught it before I had a real problem.
What does one wear to the awards dinner I wonder? -

If you're an iguana you go naked.
Otherwise just wear your formal clown outfit.
And anyone who thinks they'll never make such a mistake hasn't lived very long. -
Re: My first time
Oh well....batteries got a nice equalizing charge for about 30 minutes
I called Congress and they said all the clown outfits were out ...so I guess I will go as a NFL Union Labor Negotiator or a Vancouver hockey fan this year.
Batteries are at 14v and all is well. -

I hear there's a slightly used wiener suit available
