RE store or establishment in northern California

Hi, I was wondering if there's a store or RE place in northern California where I could go to learn more about solar systems. I know there's the California Academy of Sciences at the golden gate park where I could see a good solar installation.

Any other place where I could pick up a few tips when I visit this month?

    You might want to take a trip to:

    Solar Living Institute - Solar Training

    It is about a 2 hour drive north of San Francisco.

    Part of the Real Goods store.

    I have never taken any courses there--But it is a pretty drive and location. I went there one time about 6 years ago to see what the solar thing was all about. Spent a few hours there with the family wondering around and asking a few questions... When I went there was nothing scheduled so I can't say anything about their programs/classes.

    Training wise--I would start with some sort of Electricity 101 type class (local school, online, self taught, etc.) where you learn about basic home (and/or boat) wiring and math about volts/amps/watts/ohms/etc... Makes the rest of the solar components much more understandable.
