Based on Wikipedia, a Chevy Volt consumes 36 kWh to travel 100 miles.
If we assume that those panels on the roof are 5 x Sanyo HIT 220W (the most power-dense panels that I came up with off the top of my head), that's a total rating of 1100W STC, which PV-watts tells me will supply 1155 kWh a year at my location, with zero tilt and a derate factor of 0.77.
That's 3208 miles a year, or 8.8 miles a day, with a lot of "ideal" assumptions.
Might want to just get a bike with that commute.
