Aloha, Is there a charge controller made or just coming out that will step up voltage from the PV incoming? My Outback can only do 60v and not step up over the PV incoming and I need a high voltage power-supply-charger for up to 180v or so. thanks
Francis

    Re: Charge Controller step up?

You can place solar panels in series for Voc-cold upwards of 600-1,000 VDC...

So, one way would be to place enough panels in series for Vmp~217 volts -- Then use a simple dump controller to charge the battery bank.

Otherwise, using your 120/240 VAC to drive the AC 180 VDC battery charger. But you would probably be lucky to get 50% efficiency from your 48 VDC battery bank to the 180 VDC bank.

There are some other options, possibly hacking the AC power supply---But it may not be what you want to do.
