For residential wind people should have a better chance if they go with one of the companies with a track record such as:
1) Jacobs
2) Bergy
3) Scirocco
4) ARE
The older companies products are generally more expensive but for a reason.
If there is not a tower to get to 80 to 100 feet or more there is generally not much of a chance either. Even then local obstructions or geography can cause poor performance.
A wise person would put an anemometer on top of a pole at the proposed elevation of the turbine and see what happens for a year. Not many places have adequate wind to begin with.
