flexible or rigid panel?

I'm new to the forum and have been looking into solar power for RV/truck camping. Main use is for the charging of 12V auto batteries for use in a HOOKAH system (12V air compressor for diving) and possibly the use of a laptop, lighting and possibly a portable satalite/tv setup but not all at the same time. What's the recommendation regarding this? Soft flexible or hard rigid panels? Which one provide the best performance? Any idea where to purchase a soft flexible design.

I like the setup the military uses here:

Thanks for any input,

Dale

    Hi Dale,

i'd say panel type is a choice more towards the end of the decision making. flexible will cost more and often regular panels with have better power ouput. the first question is how much power do you need (determined my measuring your loads and muliplying by how many hours maximum you intend to use. then need to know how much sunlight (minimum ideally) you can get in a day .
also need to know how many amp hours the batteries are you need to charge.
if these answers arent determined before purchasing youd likely be disapointed .

you can buy both panel types here at NAZ windsun
