1970 Aqua Air by Solar Age

Hi, I work for a PV company and I happen to have rented a house that has 1970 active/passive solar. The active part is two panels on the roof which are Aqua-Stat by Solar Age (or at least that's what the downstairs thermostat's say.

I'm curious about two things:

How are these supposed to work?

What sorts of things can I check on the system to see if they are still working? (I can hear a fan when I turn on the thermostat. )

Thanks,

Kristy

Here is a Naval Facilities Maintenance Manual (277 pages PDF download) out of 1990 that educates the reader on basic liquid solar thermal systems and how to maintain them (it is a large file and will take awhile to download on a slow connection).

It is probably close enough to the age of your system that you can identify the major components and see how everything works together and what maintenance would be required for your system.
