8 L-16's @ 48v what should be the max amp charge

I have 8 L-16 batteries on a 48 volt setup.

Xantrex 5500 inverter, what should i set my max amp charge to?

What should i set my bulk voltage to?

What should i set my float voltage to?

What should i set my float amp cut in to or at what amp should it switch to float.


I use a 10kw diesel gen

According to our host's battery FAQ:

"Most flooded batteries should be charged at no more than the "C/8" rate for any sustained period. "C/8" is the battery capacity at the 20-hour rate divided by 8."

Not knowing the exact rating of your particular batteries, let's assume a 320ah capacity at the 20hr rate.

320 / 8 = 40

Since your batteries are probably 6v x 8 wired in series to give 48v, then the amp hour capacity of the entire bank would be 320 - so the charging amperage should be 40a or less.
