Inverter sleep mode and relays

I have enough knowledge of electronic circuits to do some basic troubleshooting but not enough to actually design anything. I had this bright idea to put a relay into a power strip so that when my inverter went into sleep mode the relay would open cutting power to the outlets. Unfortuanately the sleep mode pulse from the invereter causes the relay to close and open so it just sits there clicking like a clock. I have no idea what to put front of the relay to absorb the sleep pulse but let relay close when the inverter wakes up. Why would I want this? To plug in cell phone chagers, cordless phone chargers and other such devices that don't draw enough power to wake up the inverter but completely lose their charge when the inverter is asleep. I keep forgeting to unplug these things at night and in the morning the units are completely discharged.
