    On my SW4024SC,
it is done in the Battery Charging Menu (10).

    It's the 4th and 5th setting down.

I use the default settings on my L16's
    in a 24vdc system
    (28.8 vdc)
    (02.00 hr)

To my knowledge the XW 4024 equalization is an auto 30 minutes.
If you wish to EQ longer you will have to enable EQ again.
I think the reasoning is to be able to take SOC readings without damaging your battery bank.

What brand of batteries are your L-16's? Is that what the manufacturer recommends?

28.8v seems to quite low for a 24v system equalize setting.
Usually it would be between 30 - 31v
28.8 is more like the typical absorb setting.

    I'm just curious.

    Whoa!

Do not automatically equalize batteries, okay?
Check the Specific Gravity about once a month and only equalize if you find readings are different by more than 0.010.
You should EQ manually, for one hour, then re-check. If there's still a difference, do it again. If there's no further improvement, stop. "Over equalizing" is a sure-fire way to kill batteries. The extra Voltage creates heat which can damage the plates.

And of course the Battery FAQ link: http://www.windsun.com/Batteries/Battery_FAQ.htm

Marc/Cariboocoot noticed that this was in the wrong forum... Moved to Off-Grid Forum (was in FAQ's).

    Thank you Marc!

Unfortunately, one thing I can't do with my Morningstar Prostar is change the auto equalize function. It is set to equalize every 25 days which in my opinion is way to often.
