Need a combo solar panel and water ciculation pump

I have an hot water solar system from the late 70s. Tank and roof water panel works great but the control unit for the AC pump is shot. Rather than fix this, I'm thinking of replacing the 70W AC motor with a DC motor and power it with a coresponding PV solar panel. I'm thinking the 70W AC pump is way overkill and can use a 10W DC motor. Any recommendations on the specific motor and PV panel to get so they match? Any special circuitry needed to make sure the motor only turns on with minimum level DC voltage/current, and also does not overdrive the motor with too high DC voltage from the solar panel?

You'll probably need a linear current boosted to optimize the available voltage and current from the PV module(s) to the motor's requirements. See: http://www.solarconverters.com/product_frame.html and http://store.solar-electric.com/volcon.html
