Hi there.

Any one out there have any experience AC coupling existing solar on the load side of the Solar 15 K and also utilizing the gen input for a generator.

See below communication with Solark:

1.Can the Solark 15 K AC couple on the load side?

Yes, however when AC coupled to the load terminal there are a few things you must know.
  • CAN produce solar power during grid outages.

  • CAN produce solar power for Off-Grid systems.
  • CANNOT monitor solar production.
  • “GEN” input CANNOT be used.
  • Backup Transfer Time is extended to 2 seconds

2.Can I also use the Gen port for a generator?
  • You cannot connect a generator to the gen terminal when AC coupled to the load terminal.

3.If I adjust the running frequency of the gen so that is "turns off" AC couple solar, would that remedy any potential problem of using the Gen port when there is AC coupled Solar?
  • “GEN” input CANNOT be used in any circumstance when AC coupled to the load terminal.
4.In a grid down situation, would using the smart load batt on/ off %ages and ac coupled to load side selected cause the Solark to shift output frequency to turn off ac coupled solar before batts hit 100%

  • AC coupled inverters need to be either UL 1741SA or UL 1741 certified. This certification confirms the AC coupled inverters’ ability to disconnect from the grid based on frequency and ensures that the Sol-Ark will safely be able to frequency shift to control the AC coupled production. The AC coupled inverters can still produce solar power even during grid outage events or in Off-Grid systems until batteries are fully charged.

5. Will the Solark allow the gen to be triggered by 20% SOC if ac coupled to load side is selected? Or would I have to use time of use settings?
“GEN” input CANNOT be used when AC coupled to load terminal. We will not support or best advise configurations with that set up due to warranty purposes.

Really old problem with AC coupling that can fry your generator !
Map it (draw it) out on paper and you will see it.
