R19 temperature too cold in top section and too warm in bottom.

I have a recent problem with my R19 Sun Frost refrigerator. In the last 6 weeks the upper section has been getting a lot colder than the lower section. The upper gets so cold that it freezes on the back wall and in the troughs on the back side. The bottom section stays much warmer, too warm to keep food refrigerated properly. Any ideas what happened? Any ideas on how to fix the problem or at least modify it?

Have you called Sun Frost and asked them?

Assuming it is a regular compressor based refrigerator, my first guess is that it may have a small refrigerant leak and/or need recharging...

A few years back, my wife and I had a camper with a standard absorption fridge. (2003 model) We had the same problem when we would go for a trip, because we would always over fill it. The fridge worked because it would dissipated the cold air down across the cooling fins because it was denser. And the warm air was lighter so it would rise. Because of the overstocked fridge, that didn't work so well.

My solution was to find the smallest 12v computer fan. Wire it to the 12v camper system. The fridge needed 12v to run, so it was easy to tap into it. I placed the fan on the back of the bottom shelf and had it blow up. I also attached a small tube to the fan and had the outlet blow a few inches below the cooling fins.

This setup worked very well and we could continue to overstocked the fridge.

    Just a thought,

In the past I have had a fridge that ducted the cold air from the freezer down into the refrigerator. That duct would frost up and clog and give you the same exact result as you're talking about Try defrosting it and get that ice plug if it has that duct between the floor of the freezer and the roof of the fridge

I did try calling Sun Frost before I posted this problem, but I have not received a return call yet. The R19 is a compressor based refrigerator. The whole thing is a refrigerator, both the top and bottom sections. It has no freezer compartment.
