kohler 14resa, will engine start without controller?

I was given a 2015 14 RES-A gen-set that is missing the control board. I'd like to start the engine to verify that it runs. It has 190 psi compression on both side. Just cranking it over with a remote starter switch yields no spark. I assume that I need to jump some wires....

    You need the controller or a spark source. Never heard of a way to jump it but I do not spend much time
    with generators. I replace bad ones. The electronics are always suspect on a genset. Hardly anyone uses surge protection and they just fry!  Maybe someone else here?
